Scotty McCreery was born on October 9,1993 in Garner, North Carolina. Elvis Presley's music had a great influence in his love for music. He used to impersonate him when he was a child. Guitar playing began at the age of 10 years old. Scotty attended West Lake Middle School where he sang at his graduation. He went on to attend Garner Magnet High School. Singing and baseball are his loves at school. He joined a vocal ensemble,Die Meistersingers, that performed all over America. When did Scotty go from a tenor to that deep base? It happened in his sophomore year of high school.
He won a singing contest called "Clayton Idol" at the Clayton Harvest Festival in Clayton, North Carolina.He also was in competitions such as "Rip the Hallways" contest and the Caswell youth retreat.
McCreery often states that his faith plays a big role in his life and that God helps him get through the things he has to face. He openly tells others that he loves Jesus Christ with all of his heart.
Scotty auditioned for the tenth season of American Idol in Milwaukee. The judges were struck by his "deep" bass voice at such an early age. McCreery won American Idol on May 25th,2011 at the age of 17.
Since his winning the title he has produce his first CD. The album’s debut single, “I Love You This Big,” became a Top 15 hit and enjoyed the highest-charting debut for a new artist since at least 1984, while the video for the song hit No. 1 in just a week after its release. He recorded his debut album while starring in the American Idols Live! Tour, which Pollstar ranked as one of the nation’s Top 15 tours.
Scotty's big smile and blue eyes make it easy to that he is the real thing. He is just a country boy wanting to sing his music.
Scotty's album "Clear As Day" was a great success in the end of 2011. He will go on his first country music tour with Brad Paisley beginning in January.
"I Love You This Big" and "Trouble With Girls" have both hit the top of the charts.
